Privacy Policy

Learnatist is a directory of children’s education providers in New York City operated by StrukturAI, LLC. This policy explains what information we collect, where it comes from, how we use it, and what you can do about it.

We have tried to write this in plain English. If something here is unclear, write to us at privacy@learnatist.com and we will answer.

Where our listing information comes from

We compile listings from publicly available sources — provider websites, public business registries and licensing records, publicly posted program information, and similar public material. We then organize and summarize that material, using automated tools including AI-assisted summarization, into a consistent listing format so that families can compare programs. We then encourage the listed providers to claim their listing and edit or augment the listing details.

A listing on Learnatist therefore does not always mean the provider signed up with us, gave us information, paid us, or endorsed us. It means we found public information about them and organized it.

If you are a listed education services provider, you are in control of your listing. You can claim the listing and replace our compiled description with your own, ask us to correct it, or ask us to remove it entirely. All three are free. See "Your listing is yours to claim, correct, or remove" below.

Over time, we expect most listings to be maintained by the providers themselves rather than compiled by us. Provider-supplied information always supersedes information we compiled. That said, we will insist that certain features – like reviews – always be shown to end users regardless of provider preferences.

Information we collect

From visitors. When you browse Learnatist we collect standard technical information: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring page, and approximate location derived from IP. We use this to operate and improve the site.

From account holders. If you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password credentials. Authentication is handled by our provider Clerk; we do not store your password ourselves.

From providers who claim a listing. We collect the business information you give us — program descriptions, contact details, hours, pricing, photos, and anything else you choose to add — plus information sufficient to verify you are authorized to speak for the business.

From paying customers. If you purchase a paid service, payment is processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment and limited billing details. We never receive or store your full card number.

From email. If we send you email, we may record whether it was delivered, opened, or clicked, using our own tracking domains. We do this to manage our sending reputation and to stop contacting people who are not interested.

Compiled provider information. As described above, this includes business names, addresses, phone numbers, contact email addresses published by or for the business (which are sometimes personal in form), descriptions of programs, and similar business information drawn from public sources. Some of these details may be erroneous and we make no claim that our listing details are perfect. We are trying to make it easy to find good education services, but end users should do their own diligence.

Through our embeddable badge. Verified providers can install a Learnatist badge on their own website. The badge is an image served from our servers, so when someone visits a page that displays it, our servers receive that visitor's IP address, browser information, and the address of the page they were viewing. We use this only to serve the badge and to count impressions for the provider's reporting. We do not use badge data for advertising, and we do not use it to track visitors across sites.

How we use information

We use listing information… to operate the directory and show families relevant programs. To let providers claim, correct, and manage their listings. To contact providers about listings that concern them. To provide paid services and process payment. To detect abuse, fraud, and misuse. To improve the site. To comply with law.

We also use information to produce reporting for providers who buy it — including insights about how their listing performs and how their category is performing generally. Reporting we sell about other providers is drawn from public information and from activity on Learnatist, and is provided in aggregate. We do not sell a report about an identifiable individual.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing.

Email we send to providers

We contact providers at business contact addresses to tell them a listing about their business exists on Learnatist and to invite them to claim it. That email is a commercial email and follows the CAN-SPAM Act: it identifies us, gives our postal address, and includes a working way to opt out.

If you opt out, we honor it across every address and domain we send from, not just the one that emailed you. Opting out stops future email from us. It does not by itself remove your listing — if you want the listing gone as well, use the removal request below, or just say so in your reply and we will do both.

Your listing is yours to claim, correct, or remove

If you are a provider:

  • Claim it. Create an account, verify you are authorized to act for the business, and replace our compiled description with your own. Free.
  • Correct it. Tell us what is wrong and we will fix it. You do not need an account. Free.
  • Remove it. Ask and we will take the listing down. You do not need an account, and you do not need to give a reason. Free.

To have your listing removed, just email privacy@learnatist.com. We aim to act on removal and correction requests within 10 business days.

Removal takes the listing off Learnatist. It may take longer for the page to disappear from search engines and other services that have their own copies, which we do not control.

Cookies and tracking

We use a small number of first-party cookies that are necessary for the site to work: session and authentication cookies set by Clerk, a cookie that remembers which neighborhood you are browsing, and a load-balancing cookie set by our hosting provider. Pages that display a map load Google Maps, which may set its own cookies; we do not control those and we do not use them for advertising.

We do not run third-party advertising or analytics trackers on this site. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles, and we do not participate in cross-site behavioral advertising.

If that changes, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.

Who we share information with

Service providers who work on our behalf, under contract and only for the purposes we specify. These currently include Clerk (accounts and authentication), Stripe (payments), Replit (application hosting and our database), Google Maps Platform (maps and place data), and the email delivery services we use to send and receive mail.

Publicly, on the site. Listing information — including provider-supplied content — is published on Learnatist and is visible to anyone. Do not put anything in a listing that you do not want public.

When the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our users, or the public.

In a business transfer. If Learnatist is sold or merged, information may transfer with it. This policy continues to apply until it is replaced, and we will give notice of any material change.

Children

Learnatist is a service for adults. It is intended for parents, guardians, educators, and providers — not for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, and accounts are not available to children.

If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to privacy@learnatist.com and we will delete it.

Providers: do not upload photographs or identifying information of children without the consents you are required by law to obtain. If you upload an image of a minor, you are representing to us that you have those consents. See our Terms of Service.

How long we keep information

Account and listing information: while your account is active, and afterwards only as needed for legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution purposes.

Compiled listing information: while the listing is published. If you ask us to remove a listing, we delete the listing content but keep a minimal record of the removal request itself — enough to make sure we do not re-add the same listing later from the same public sources. That record is a suppression record, not a profile.

Opt-out records: indefinitely, because that is what makes an opt-out permanent.

Technical logs: 12 months.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and delegating credential handling to specialist providers rather than storing passwords ourselves. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

Anyone, anywhere, can ask us to: see what personal information we hold about them, correct it, delete it, or stop emailing them. Write to privacy@learnatist.com. We will not charge you and we will not make you create an account to ask.

Residents of some states and countries have additional rights under their own laws, including rights to access, correct, delete, and port personal information, to opt out of certain sharing, and to be free from discrimination for exercising those rights. We honor those requests regardless of where you live. If we ever need to verify your identity before acting, we will ask for the minimum necessary.

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change, we will update the date at the top and — for anyone with an account — give notice by email or in the product before the change takes effect. We will not apply a materially different use of information we already hold without giving you a chance to object.
