Visit websiteI was a member in the1950's. It was a fun place to go and stay out of trouble. The indoor swimming pool gave me a chance at a college athletic scholarship and a lifetime of success. So happy to see it still is there.
I was there when I was in Junior High, there was no better place to spend summers as a kid. I hope they will reopen soon. If there was any way I could help financially, I’d do so willingly without question. Thanks so much for allowing me to share my personal history.
I ATTENDED THE BROOKLYN CLUBHOUSE 1956-1960, AGE 8YRS to 12 YRS...AND WORKED AS A VOLUNTEER 1963-1964...IT WAS HEAVEN ON EARTH! BOXING, WRESTLING, CRAFTS, POOL TABLES AND BEST OF ALL...ICE COLD SWIMMING POOL, HOT SHOWERS AFTER. I PICKED UP SOME REALLY GOOD VALUES FROM THE STAFF THERE...I ALMOST FEEL
The staff there cares about the members. It would be great if they cold get funding for a new building with more windows and light. But they seem to do the best with what they have.
My grandson goes there and he loves it he goes even when there is no school. The kids in South Boston should be so lucky to have a Boy's and Girls Center.
