How can parents teach critical thinking at home without making it sound like another school lesson after dinner?
I hear critical thinking everywhere, but I honestly don't know what to do with that at home. My 10 year old is tired after school and does not want a lecture from me. Are there normal parent ways to build this with games, books, or everyday questions?
We do silly dinner questions. Would you rather live in a treehouse or a submarine, and why. Then we ask what problems would you have. It is goofy but they are thinking.
Board games are great for this. I ask, what do you think my next move is. Or what happens if you do that. No worksheet needed.
When my son repeats something from YouTube, I ask how could we check. Not in a mean way, just like ok, who said that and how do they know.
