How do families get through that first kindergarten year when ur kid catches every single cold and you keep missing work?
Kindergarten germs are no joke. My child has been sick so much since starting school — coughs, fevers, stomach stuff, everything. I keep him home when needed, but I worry about missing school, and my work schedule is falling apart too. How did other families handle that first year?
The first year was just rough. I stopped trying to recreate school at home. If he was sick, we rested and read books. That was enough.
Make a sick day plan before you need it. Who can take which days, what meetings can move, who can help if fever is gone but kid is still tired. Not perfect but less panic.
Ask the teacher what matters for makeup. Our teacher said reading and maybe one math page, not a full pretend school day.
