How do you judge a gymnastics trial for a 6-year-old when they spend most of the class lining up for one quick turn?
My 6-year-old liked the actual gymnastics at a trial, but there seemed to be a lot of standing in line. I couldn't tell if that was because it was a first session or just how the class works. What would you watch or ask before booking the full fall term?
I'd ask how the group normally rotates between activities. One slow trial might not tell you everything, but I'd want to understand what the other children are doing while an instructor helps one child.
Watch whether the instructor notices the children waiting, not only the one taking a turn. For my kid, a simple job to practice nearby would be very different from being told to stand still for ages.
I'd ask your child what they thought before sharing your verdict. Mine might remember three exciting turns while I remember the queue. Then you can decide whether the experience and amount of instruction match what you're paying for.
