How do you prepare a 3-year-old for preschool bathrooms when they're mostly toilet trained but still need help after an accident?
We're getting ready for preschool and the bathroom part is worrying me more than learning names or finding the cubby. My 3-year-old usually knows when to go, but wet clothes are a whole production. How much should we practice, and what do we need to tell the school?
Send clothes your child can actually manage, not the adorable trousers with three buttons. We practiced taking off damp pants once with a little water on them. Getting unstuck was the frustrating bit for my kid.
I would ask who helps with changing and how they keep it private. A bag of spare clothes isn't the whole plan. I'd also tell them the exact words your child uses for needing the bathroom, especially if they're not obvious to another adult.
