How much rain and outdoor time is realistic in a forest preschool for a 3-year-old who still needs help with clothes and toilets?
A forest preschool option sounds lovely for my 3yo, who would happily spend all morning looking at sticks. I'm less clear on wet socks, changing clothes and getting to a toilet. What practical details would make you comfortable choosing this for fall?
The toilet trip is the part I'd ask them to walk through. Who goes with the child, where do the other children stay, and what happens if two need help? I'd rather hear a slightly boring, specific answer than more about building resilience outdoors.
Borrow the rain gear before buying everything. We tried a puddle outing and discovered the trousers were fine but getting them off quickly wasn't. It gave me a much better question to ask than whether the program goes outside in rain.
Find out what their indoor backup actually is and when they use it. I would also ask how they tell parents about a location change. I don't want to learn at drop-off that the group is meeting somewhere else.
