What actually helps a dyslexic 5th grader get through the school day, besides just extra time on tests?

Extra time is in the plan, but my child is still exhausted. Directions, copying notes, spelling in every subject, long reading passages... it all adds up. For parents of kids with dyslexia, what accommodations actually made the school day easier?

Audiobooks for assigned reading were huge. He still worked on decoding, but he could join the class conversation and not be 4 chapters behind.
