What should a beginner yoga or Pilates class for a 15-year-old feel like if they want movement without talk about changing their body?
My 15-year-old wants something gentler than team sports and mentioned yoga or Pilates. I'm looking for a welcoming beginner class, not an hour of calorie talk or pressure to look a certain way. What would you ask about the instructor and the way the class is taught?
I'd ask whether the instructor regularly teaches that age group and what language they use about bodies and progress. I want my teen to hear about learning movements and noticing comfort, not earning food or fixing their shape.
Check how they handle opting out or changing a movement. I'd want my teen to know they can say something doesn't feel right without being singled out. I'd also ask how the instructor checks permission before any hands-on adjustment.
