What should I ask a school-break camp about mixed-age groups when my 9-year-old keeps ending up doing activities meant for much younger kids?

I'm looking ahead at school-break camps and some accept a really wide age range. My 9-year-old doesn't need anything super advanced, but gets bored when the day is mostly preschool crafts. How do you find out what their actual group would look like on the dates you need?

Ask how they group the children who actually register, not how they describe the program in general. I'd want to know whether age groups get combined on quieter days and what the older children do when that happens.

I'd ask for an example of one activity with different options for different ages. A broad age range could work for us if the older kids have a meaningful challenge, rather than just being asked to help the little ones.
