What should parents do when a preschooler prefers playing alone and teachers say they are happy, not excluded?
My 4 year old usually picks puzzles, blocks, or looking at books instead of pretend play with a group. Teachers say he is content and not being left out. I don't want to create a problem, but I also wonder if I should help more with social skills. When do you worry?
If he is happy, I would not panic. Ask if he can take turns, ask for help, and join sometimes with support. Alone play is not automatically a problem.
Small playdates helped my daughter. One child, one activity, short time. Big open ended groups were too much.
