What weeknight routine actually works when homework, sports, dinner, showers, and bedtime all crash into each other?

Our evenings are chaos lately. One kid has practice, one has homework, dinner is late, somebody can't find shin guards, and by bedtime I'm not even a nice person anymore. If your family is not naturally organized, what routine helped in real life?

Dinner got boring and that saved us. Pasta, tacos, eggs, leftovers. I wanted nice meals, but weeknights are not the time.

We do a 15 minute reset right after getting home. Lunch boxes out, papers on counter, shoes away. If we skip it, the night gets messy fast.

Each kid has one no activity night. We had to cut back. Nobody was enjoying anything when every night ended in yelling.

Alarms help because my voice becomes background noise. Shower alarm, reading alarm, lights alarm. They still complain but it is less personal.

Lower your standards a little. Dinner can be yogurt and toast sometimes. Homework can be good enough. The routine has to survive tired people.
