When does helping with a teen's audition video become too much, especially if you're doing the filming and keep spotting things to fix?
My 17-year-old is preparing an audition recording and wants me behind the camera. Apparently being the camera person does not include suggesting another take every time I notice something. How do parents help with the practical bits without making the performance feel picked apart?
I'd agree on the job before recording: check framing, sound and the submission instructions, then let your teen judge the performance. If they want feedback on acting or singing, they can ask for that separately.
Set a stopping point together before everyone gets tired. I'd rather have a few usable takes and let the teen choose than spend the evening chasing a version that only exists in the parent's head.
