Who is responsible for the trip from middle school to an off-site activity if the class starts before I can get there?

I'm comparing fall activities around Astoria for my 12-year-old. A couple start shortly after dismissal, but they're not in the school building. The class sounds good; the gap between school and class is what I can't figure out. What would you want confirmed before signing up?

The bit I'd want written down is when their supervision starts. At the classroom door, outside the school, or after a staff member checks a list? I'd give them a pretend example: school lets out late and my child isn't at the meeting spot. Who notices and who calls?

Don't forget the days when the instructor is absent. I'd want to know whether someone still collects the children or whether pickup suddenly becomes my problem. That detail would affect my choice more than an extra activity on the brochure.
