Who should I contact before kindergarten starts if speech support is listed in the paperwork but we haven't heard who will provide it?
Our kindergarten paperwork includes speech support, but I don't have a name or a clear picture of how the week will work. I'm trying to get organized before September rather than discover something missing afterward. What would you ask the school to confirm?
I'd contact the school with the current paperwork and ask who coordinates the services and who will follow up with you. Keep a short list of what you still need answered: provider, planned start, how sessions fit into the day, and contact if something doesn't happen. I'd put the questions in one message rather than sending a new email every time I think of another.
I'd ask how the classroom teacher and speech provider will communicate. For my preschooler, I'd want the adults to know what they're each working on, not leave me to carry messages between them.
